The Ties That Bind

For some, being away from home can be an exciting new adventure. For others, being - and living - far from home can be unpleasant. For still others, both. Home in this case is not only a physical location but the people you associate with it too.

In this soundscape composition, I explore the unpleasant aspects of being away from your family for an extended period of time. Brought to the forefront are the related sounds and the occasional silence too.

The photos seen below were taken in my dorm room or in the area surrounding my residence building. These snapshots highlight the industrial and somewhat bleak nature of the space.
